The ClearPoint Data Loader can watch folders on your computer, making it possible to automatically upload files when saved. Since the Data Loader cannot directly watch SharePoint files, you must sync the SharePoint folder with OneDrive first.

Introduction

Watching a OneDrive folder that is synced with SharePoint in your Data Loader allows you to automatically run uploads into ClearPoint anytime the file is updated in SharePoint or your one drive. This integration streamlines collaboration and ensures you always have the latest data being watched by the Data Loader. This guide will walk you through the steps of Syncing your SharePoint folder with your OneDrive and then watching that synced folder with the Data Loader.

Here’s how to sync a SharePoint folder with your OneDrive step by step:

Step 1: Open the SharePoint Document Library

  1. Go to Microsoft SharePoint Online (https://www.office.com/) and sign in.

  2. Navigate to the document library containing the folder you want to sync.

  3. Click on the folder if you want to sync a specific one, or stay in the document library to sync everything.

Step 2: Click the Sync Button

  1. At the top of the document library, click the Sync button (cloud icon).

  2. If prompted, allow the browser to open Microsoft OneDrive.

Step 3: Set Up OneDrive Sync

  1. If you haven’t already signed into OneDrive, enter your work or school account credentials.

  2. OneDrive will ask for permission to sync—confirm it.

  3. The syncing process will start, and you will see a notification confirming that OneDrive is syncing files.

Step 4: Access the Synced Folder

  1. Open File Explorer (Windows).

  2. In the left sidebar, you’ll see a folder labeled Your Organization – SharePoint (e.g., "Contoso – Documents").

  3. Open the folder to access your synced SharePoint files.

Step 5: Work with Synced Files

  • Any changes you make to the files locally will automatically sync to SharePoint (and vice versa).

  • You can work offline, and updates will sync when you reconnect to the internet.

  • Right-click a file to choose "Always keep on this device" (for offline access) or "Free up space" (to remove the local copy but keep it in the cloud).

Step 6: Manage Sync Settings (Optional)

  1. Click the OneDrive cloud icon in the system tray (Windows).

  2. Select Help & SettingsSettings.

  3. Under the Account tab, you can stop syncing a library if needed.

That's it! Your SharePoint folder is now synced with OneDrive. 🚀

Using the Synced OneDrive Folder with ClearPoint's Data Loader

The ClearPoint Data Loader can watch folders on your computer, making it possible to automatically upload files when saved. Since the Data Loader cannot directly watch SharePoint files, you must sync the SharePoint folder with OneDrive first.

Here are the steps for uploading Excel and CSV files from your OneDrive:

  1. Open the Data Loader and sign in.

  2. Click Watch New Directory.

  3. A window will open showing folders on your computer.

  4. Select the synced OneDrive folder containing the files you want to upload.

  5. Click Select Folder.

  6. The selected folder will now appear in the Data Loader, displaying all files within it.

Once the folder is being watched, any updates to the files in the synced OneDrive folder will be automatically uploaded to ClearPoint.
