Visualize Your Data - Adding Trendlines to Charts

Trendlines are a graphical representation that can be added to charts to provide valuable insights into how a particular series is trending over time. By adding a trendline to a chart, you can better understand the underlying data and make informed decisions.


Adding Trendlines to Charts

  • Select Scorecards & Elements from the Control Panel

  • Choose Manage Elements

  • Open Measures

  • Select the Measure you are going to be working with, in this example, ‘Revenue’.

  • Double-click on the Chart you would like to edit

  • Navigate to the Chart Series tab

  • Click on the edit Pencil icon next to the series you want to edit

  • From the Measure Series dropdown, select the series you would like the trendline to be based on

  • Under Label, enter the name of the new trendline, in this example, ‘Trend’.

  • Use Series Options to adjust the Shape, assign a Marker type, change the Color

  • Click Save

  • Click on Refresh Preview to see a preview of your changes

  • Locate the Advanced Options section

  • From the Chart Series Values dropdown, select Plot trendline using regression model

  • Use the Trendline dropdown menu to select the regression type you would like to display on your chart

  • Click on Refresh Preview to see a preview of your changes

  • Once you are done with your changes, click Save
